A huge event to support Ukraine held in Vilnius during the NATO Summit. Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife landed in Lithuania and took part in the event.

NATO Summit 2023 held in Vilnius has been a big event for Lithuania. It is also a moment to express the strong support to Ukraine and to invite all the world to support Ukraine.

In Lukiškės Square, in the center of the capital was organized a huge event. Thousands of people participated with Ukrainian and Lithuanian flags, and also NATO and European flags.

Blue Yellow, a Lithuanian organization supporting Ukraine since 2014, brought in Vilnius the Ukrainian flag donated by the Ukrainian fighters in Donbas.

Dozens of runners run from Kyiv to Vilnius with flag and that flag was raised in the square. The square where a huge Lenin statue was during the Soviet occupation, before the building that hosted the KGB headquarter and the SS headquarter.

Blue Yellow has raised more than forty-six million euros since February 2022, and more than sixty million euros since 2014, when Russia has illegally annexed Crimea.

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, and his wife arrived in Vilnius and with surprise of all people, they took part in the event with the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, his wife and the Mayor of Vilnius.

We interviewed Mantė Makauskaitė, Advisor to the Chancellor of the Government of Lithuania. Mantė, with her team, is working for various projects to support Ukraine.

“…Lithuania is actually doing a lot to support reconstruction of Ukraine. We are not waiting for the end of war. We don’t believe in this post war definition because the war has been going on since 2014 and we don’t know how we will define the end of war”, he said.

They are working to rebuild the country with concrete projects. For example, school in Borodyanka and a kindergarten in Irpin.

More than sixty thousand Ukrainians who fled from the war have found refuge in Lithuania since the outbreak of all-out war against their country.
